BWD Comes Out On Top!!!

The Beaver Water District Top Ops Team won the regional competition held at the Southwest Section Conference of AWWA for the second year in a row! Taking home the top honors will allow them to move on to the national competition held next year in Washington DC during the AWWA ACE conference! Congratulations to Cole Ellis, Brina Smith, and Jaime Garcia (Coach Steven Caudle not pictured) and good luck at the nationals! What is Top Ops? Top Ops is the “College Bowl” or “Jeopardy!” of the water industry, where teams of water operators from all American Water Works Association (AWWA) sections compete against each other in a competitive question- and-answer tournament. A moderator poses a broad range of technical questions that involve all aspects of water operations, including safety, water treatment processes, laboratory, maintenance, distribution, and basic science. Math questions are also part of the competition requiring teams to know the proper equations to provide the correct answers.

Holloway Recognized

BWD’s Laboratory Supervisor Nikki Holloway earned the 6Ws Award – Wonderful Wise Watchdogs Willfully Wielding Water – at the SW Section Conference of AWWA. The purpose of the “6Ws” award is to have fun recognizing section members who are providing (or have provided) continued outstanding leadership and service to the Southwest Section of AWWA. Congrats Nikki!
