8th Annual Secchi Day-Aug. 17, 2013
The 8th annual Secchi Day on Beaver Lake will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Prairie Creek on Beaver Lake five miles east of Rogers, Arkansas, on Hwy. 12. The event is named for the Secchi Disk, a black and white device lowered into the water to measure clarity. Volunteers with boats, as well as the general public (no boat needed), are invited to take part.
The Science Education Festival includes activities for all ages, with the mobile aquarium, on shore scavenger hunt with prizes, lunch, pontoon boat rides, birding walks, fish identification and more. This event is free and open to everyone! For information, call Amy Wilson, Director of Public Affairs for Beaver Water District, at 479-717-3807. Or send an email to her at awilson@bwdh2o.org.
