Education Programs
Building Blocks To Water Education Purpose: To educate children about drinking water treatment and Beaver Lake watershed protection.
1st-3rd GRADE: Adventures in Our Watershed uses a localized, interactive relief model of the watershed and Beaver Lake. The design is based on the Beaver Lake Watershed with recognizable landmarks and land uses found within Beaver Lake watershed.
4th-6th GRADE: Your students will love playing the Wheres The Water board game. They will learn about the water cycle using a board game based on the region, with Beaver Lake as a focal point for learning.
7th-8th GRADE: The Ways of Water teaches students about a variety of topics. The 7th Grade Lessons include Drinking Water Treatment, The History of Drinking Water Treatment, and Careers in Drinking Water Treatment with an optional On-Site Tour of the District's Gold LEED-certified Administration Center in Lowell, Arkansas. (Tours are available on request. Criteria include completing all three lessons in the 7th Grade Program. To request a tour, awilson@bwdh2o.org. The 8th Grade Lessons cover Streams (Erosion and Deposition), Topographic Mapping, and Water and Its Erosion Properties.
All of the District's Education Programs correlate with Arkansas Frameworks in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
